Leftover from last night’s dinner: Chicken sausage with sautéed onions, steamed broccoli, roasted red potatoes with Parmesan. I’m doing my best to get the family more on board with healthy eating- It’s a struggle sometimes!
I eat a restaurant burger maybe 1-2x year. That’s it. And today is the day! This is bison burger. It’s also been many moons since I’ve had onion rings.
I always space out my splurges, choose them wisely, and stop eating when I begin to feel full. That’s the quick gist of being able to enjoy all kinds of food and still keep the waistline in check. After this controlled splurge, it’s back to regularly scheduled programming.
Ever had a bison burger?
Late night meals and snacks can lead to bloating, weight gain, indigestion, poor sleep, and even acid reflux, especially if you lay down too soon after eating. That’s why I try to avoid eating after 9pm, giving my digestion enough time to rest.
One trick that has helped me for years is using saltine crackers to curb late night cravings. The slight saltiness is satisfying, and just one or two crackers is enough to take the edge off without interfering with goals. But this only works if you stick to 1-2 crackers, not a whole sleeve! 😜
Keep eating mindfully. Give it a try!
Hi Josie, I hope your daughter is doing well. Do you have a recommendation for lemon water ratio or is based on taste?
Here’s a peek at my Reverse Food Journal - things I made a decision to say ‘no’ to because it wasn’t the appropriate time for a splurge. Use the journal to your advantage. It works!

Ever had dried figs? It’s my first time. Literally tastes like a fig newton cookie. 😍 And it’s got the fiber we need to help balance menopausal symptoms. If you run across figs at the store (with no sugar), give it a go!
This morning was terrible -an easy excuse to ‘abandon all’ and eat something extremely unhealthy. On top of that, I’m on the road. Decided on a chicken Caesar wrap instead of letting stress of the day take me down a different food path.
➡️ Two questions to ask yourself when tempted to eat ‘bad’ food at the wrong time:
Do your best to keep making good choices. ❤️
Add cottage cheese to your eggs to increase protein intake. I scrambled in 2 heaping teaspoons then cooked it up. I’m going to start sneaking this into my family’s eggs. 😏
Have you ever tried goat butter? This is my first time. It’s smoother, lighter and melts quicker than regular butter. I like it!
